Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior. You will collaborate with teachers on instruction, monitor progress, and participate in school-wide initiatives as part of a 2–4 week training program at the start of the year.

You will lead 1:1 and small-group work, support literacy and math activities, and help create a positive classroom environment. A career path with City Year and AmeriCorps benefits await you.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (location varies).

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary to high school students, 1:1 and in groups.
• Support academic coaching and literacy/math skill development.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space with teachers.
• Support after-school and enrichment programs and events.
