Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school settings.

You will plan and monitor individual student progress, work with teachers on instruction, and support whole-school initiatives. Training is provided, and a bi-weekly living stipend is offered along with education award eligibility.

Qualifications

• Coaching and mentoring students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior.
• Training provided at program start (2–4 weeks).
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support students and classroom instruction.
• Develop and monitor student progress; implement engagement and behavior strategies.
• Support after-school and extended-day programs and events.

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups of students.
• Plan literacy and math activities adapted to each student level.
• Create and implement behavior management systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom environment with teachers.
