Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and high schools to boost academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress for individuals and collaborate with teachers on instruction and student support.

Engage in training, work 1:1 and in groups, and help drive school initiatives while building a safe, engaging classroom environment and supporting after-school programs and leadership development.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching and mentoring students is a plus.
• Ability to support classroom activities and small-group work.
• Willingness to participate in 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers.
• Assist with in-class instruction, breakout spaces and student support.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, and analyze student data.
• Create a positive, safe classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support after-school and virtual programs to strengthen student engagement.
