Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance and behavior. They work with teachers to support instruction and student progress, in elementary to high school settings, across a City Year site.

This entry-level, full-time AmeriCorps role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training, ongoing support, and a focus on equity, service, and community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.
• Ability to coach and mentor students to achieve academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class instruction.
• Develop interpersonal skills and positive behaviors in students.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help students develop literacy and math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to track student progress.
