Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and build positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on in-class support and student assistance.

We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing collaboration with partner teachers and school staff to ensure success across classrooms.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary.
• We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Plus, you will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups; develop literacy and/or math skills; create and implement behavior management system; develop interpersonal skills.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress; participate in reviews of student data in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support Whole School initiatives to increase engagement with students and families; support/lead extended day and virtual programming; recognize student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
