Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high school to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

You will plan and monitor individual progress, collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction, and contribute to whole-school initiatives with the team. Training is provided at the year's start, and a living stipend supports participants.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Ages 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Background check required
• Able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with the teacher
• Support extended day and virtual programming, clubs and service learning
