Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across grade levels, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors at school. You will plan and monitor individual progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and targeted student support.

Experience in all tasks isn’t required; City Year provides 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year, and you will work closely with partner teachers and school staff.

Qualifications

• Be adaptable and patient while supporting students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse students
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff
• Commitment to serve in an AmeriCorps program and complete service term

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups of students to support literacy and math
• Plan and monitor student progress and provide targeted interventions
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student engagement
• Create a safe, engaging classroom environment and promote positive behaviors
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives to boost student attendance and achievement
