Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to drive academic success and positive behaviors. You will work with teachers to support individual progress and classroom initiatives, with training provided at the start of the year.

You will participate in 1:1 and small group coaching, support literacy and math activities, and contribute to school-wide programs and events that recognize student growth.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year to support you.
• Coaching and mentoring elementary, middle and/or high school students to support academic success.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor progress and implement programs.

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups of students to raise literacy and math skills.
• Develop and implement behavior management strategies in classrooms.
• Monitor and record student progress and participate in data discussions.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during, and after school.
• Help plan engaging activities and events recognizing student growth in math and literacy.
