Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school levels to boost academic success and attendance. Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing support from teachers and school staff.

You will engage in literacy and math development, create a positive classroom environment, and contribute to school-wide initiatives. This role emphasizes service, growth, and community impact.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17–25 years old by July 1, 2025.
• Some college experience or college degree welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers on class instruction and student support.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in partnership with teachers.
• Support after-school and enrichment programs and events.
