Job summary

Abbott Construction seeks a Preconstruction Manager to lead or support preconstruction activities for multiple projects, from pursuit through construction commencement. You will drive risk mitigation, value optimization, and tight alignment across executives, designers, and field teams.

You will mentor the preconstruction staff, develop productive win strategies, and collaborate with Development, Marketing, and Operations to advance proposals and estimates. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three to five years of construction-related experience in a preconstruction role, with over 10 years in the construction industry overall.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Superior communication and presentation skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
• Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Be a champion for expressing the importance of preconstruction and collaboration at its finest.
• Track status of all current preconstruction projects monthly and report to leadership.
• Audit projects in preconstruction to verify status, needs, and risks.
• Maintain proactive communication across project teams and clients.
• Develop win strategies for project pursuits and preconstruction issues.
• Lead or participate in project charters and VE processes as needed.
• Mentor teams on preconstruction practices and tools.
• Attend OAC meetings and business development events.
• Collaborate with Estimating and Chief Estimator to support proposals and estimates.
