Job summary

Abbott Construction in the United States is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to guide project execution from preconstruction through close-out. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of two or more years of commercial construction experience.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Understands construction laws and practices; reads blueprints.
  • Maintains Abbott Construction ethics and policies.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational abilities.
  • Works well with others and mentors teammates.
  • Ability to plan actions and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Awareness of project cost control and scheduling.
  • Spanish language commands for construction context preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports.
  • Organize pre-construction planning meetings.
  • Participate in subcontract negotiation and cost management.
  • Assist in developing project management plans and execution.
  • Contribute to value engineering and risk management.
  • Review plans and specs for completeness and consistency.
  • Assist owner with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare project schedules and milestones with the Superintendent.
  • Develop monthly client pay requests and ensure timely collections.
  • Control costs and coordinate payments and lien releases.
  • Participate in monthly job cost reviews.
  • Manage procurement within budget and schedule.
  • Develop and monitor quality, safety, and risk plans.
  • Negotiate change orders and manage impacts on schedule/cost.
  • Lead meetings and coordinate with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Close-out procedures including as-builts, punch lists, and warranties.
  • Mentor project and field engineers, manage submittals and RFIs.
  • Update software for collaboration and document management.
  • Maintain owner relationships.
