Job summary

Abbott Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager in Seattle, WA, to lead or support preconstruction activities across multiple projects from pursuit through construction start. This strategic role focuses on mitigating risk, maximizing value, and coordinating with senior leadership to meet project goals.

The candidate will drive communications, develop win strategies, mentor teams on best practices, and participate in cost reviews and VE initiatives. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or equivalent.
• Three to five years of construction-related experience in a preconstruction role, with over 10 years in the construction industry overall.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Superior communication and presentation skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
• Capable of communicating effectively in English both verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of all aspects of the construction process
• Must have a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, organizational skills, task oriented
• Must be willing to travel if required

Responsibilities

• Lead or support preconstruction activities for multiple projects from pursuit through construction commencement.
• Lead communications to ensure alignment of risks, margins, schedules, and manpower during transitions from preconstruction to construction.
• Develop win strategies for projects and issues within preconstruction.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Marketing, Project Executives and Director of Preconstruction on proposals and interviews.
• Participate in project estimate reviews and mentor teams on Target Value Delivery principles.
• Develop Project Charters at the start of preconstruction and ensure adherence to them.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers; expand subcontractor database.
• Attend OAC meetings and business development events; contribute to corporate preconstruction initiatives.
