Job summary

Career Opportunities seeks a Senior Pre Construction Design Manager to lead design coordination, constructability analysis, and cost planning during pre-award and early execution phases. You will collaborate with owners, designers, estimators and operations to ensure accurate pricing and efficient execution of projects.

The role requires deep knowledge of Design Build, Design Bid Build and CM at Risk delivery methods, with a focus on mitigating risk, controlling costs and aligning with client

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 10 years of pre-construction design management on complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of federal construction projects, contracting and compliance requirements.
• Ability to interpret design documents and integrate construction means and methods.
• Exceptional communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with estimating tools, scheduling software and design coordination platforms.
• Professional certifications such as DBIA, CCM, PE or AIA preferred.
• Must pass background check and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction planning, including scope, design intent and objectives aligned with client requirements.
• Direct planning efforts: design development milestones, cost modeling and schedule sequencing.
• Evaluate delivery methods (Design Build, Design Bid Build, CM at Risk) and recommend optimal approaches.
• Identify risks early and develop mitigation strategies for project outcomes.
• Serve as liaison between design consultants, estimating teams and construction operations.
• Lead design reviews ensuring constructability, safety and lifecycle cost considerations.
• Develop pre-construction budgets and schedules, and support proposal development with narratives and risk registers.
• Prepare pre-construction reports and briefings for executive leadership and clients.
• Transition planning to construction with handoff of design intent, estimates and risk strategies.
