Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Grandville, MI is seeking a store operations leader who can plan, direct, and supervise team members across departments. You will mentor staff, drive customer service, and ensure sales goals are met while controlling shrink and maintaining store standards.

You'll spend time in staffing, training, and leadership development, promoting a safe, efficient, and friendly shopping environment with a focus on brand presentation and prime hours. Experience in retail management required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that prioritizes safe work practices.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by developing career paths and identifying development needs for team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained and informed of required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain attendance.
