Job summary

Rack Room Shoes is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations and drive sales and service excellence at our Cary, NC location.

You will lead staff, deliver training, and act in the Manager's absence to ensure smooth, compliant, customer-focused store performance. A strong emphasis on merchandising, safety, and loss prevention supports our brand and growth.

Qualifications

• Strong visual merchandising skills.
• Working knowledge of footwear, accessories and shoe care.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Knowledge of Corporate and Store Operations policies and procedures.
• Understanding of Store Presentation standards and visual merchandising quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in managing day-to-day store operations.
• Provide leadership, guidance and training to staff under direction of Store Manager.
• In the Store Manager's absence, assume full responsibility for store operations.
• Strive to meet and exceed sales, service and operational objectives.
• Ensure safety of employees and customers.
• Create and maintain an excellent customer shopping experience and service levels.
• Oversee POS transactions, discounts, refunds, loyalty, and closing procedures.
• Manage inventory control, pricing changes, and physical inventory.
• Lead merchandising, housekeeping, signage and visual presentation per standards.
• Monitor scheduling and payroll compliance; support payroll budgeting.
• Train and develop direct reports and reinforce operational standards.
• Support loss prevention and protection of company assets.
