Job summary

Dollar General in Mount Carroll, IL seeks an experienced Store Manager to lead all store operations, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, and staffing. The role requires recruiting and developing staff, conducting performance reviews, maintaining cash controls, and ensuring safety and policy compliance.

You will monitor sales trends, manage inventory, and uphold a high standard of customer service, while driving profitability.

Qualifications

• Must meet federal and state labor laws and company policies.
• Experience reading operating instructions and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control.
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, and counseling employees.
• Ability to manage stock, pricing, and merchandising.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training and conduct performance evaluations; address gaps and counsel up to termination.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement for staff.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Ensure store is properly opened and closed each day.
• Evaluate operating statements for sales trends, profitability, and inventory issues.
• Order to meet or exceed in-stock targets; manage BSR/cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per work processes.
• Present merchandise according to established practices; set pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and cash/security controls.
• Ensure strong cashier accountability and compliance with procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe store environment and proper equipment availability.
• Follow SOPs and complete paperwork on time.
