Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Store Manager to oversee all store operations, staffing, training and customer service. You will be accountable for ordering, receiving, stocking, merchandising, and presenting products while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal laws.

Responsibilities include recruiting and developing staff, evaluating performance, and maintaining inventory accuracy and cash controls.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and POS systems.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff and manage performance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to labor laws and company policies.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations and address gaps, including counseling or termination.
• Make recommendations on pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance expectations and coordinate safety policies.
• Ensure proper staffing and opening/closing of the store.
• Open/close the store at least twice weekly.
• Monitor sales, profits and inventory to identify trends and opportunities.
• Manage inventory and ordering plans to meet in-stock targets.
• Maintain proper merchandising and pricing and ensure signage is correct.
• Control shrink, damages and cash handling with audits.
• Lead customer service and maintain a safe, clean store environment.
