Job summary

SmithRx is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own backend architecture and API design across the SmithRx product suite. You will design, build, test and maintain services in Go, Java/Typescript, Node, GraphQL and SQL, leveraging CI/CD and AWS to move fast in a remote US setting.

You will mentor teammates, work with leaders to plan quarterly roadmaps, and apply best practices, patterns, and monitoring to deliver scalable systems while upholding the company values of Integrity, Courage and

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in CS or applicable field.
• 5–8 years of software development experience, server-side APIs, data processing.
• Experience at a high-growth startup a plus.
• Expertise in Go, Java or Kotlin is required.
• PostgreSQL with schema design, SQL tuning and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Focus on back-end architecture; design, develop and maintain SmithRx features.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and produce scalable software.
• Provide scope and risk estimates with technical design documentation.
• Apply software development best practices and testing patterns.
• Leverage AWS (Lambda, Fargate) for jobs and batch processing.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and feedback.
• Help translate technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
