Job summary

SmithRx, a rapidly growing Health-Tech company, is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for a remote US role. You will influence the full engineering lifecycle, from design to deployment, and champion best practices, scalable API design, and modern tech stacks.

You will lead backend features, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers while driving a quarterly technical roadmap and cross-team initiatives. This role offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience.
• 8–12 years of software development experience on server‑side applications, APIs, data processing.
• Expertise in a compiled language such as Go, Java or Kotlin is required.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL including schema design, SQL tuning, and monitoring.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable APIs; strong knowledge of design patterns and testing best practices.
• Knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Focus on back-end architecture; design, develop and maintain SmithRx product features using Go, JavaScript/Typescript, Node, GraphQL and SQL.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality, scalable software.
• Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds via technical design docs.
• Apply software development best practices, design patterns, testing and automation.
• Leverage AWS technologies (Lambda, Fargate) for batch processing.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis and mitigation planning.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design reviews.
• Work with leadership to translate technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Foster a collaborative learning culture with mentorship and exploring new tech.
