Job summary

SmithRx is a rapidly growing Health-Tech company delivering a next-generation drug acquisition platform. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive backend architecture and system design across our product suite.

You will advocate best practices, own large-scale features, and mentor teammates while partnering with stakeholders to turn technical vision into a tangible roadmap. You will work with Go, Java/Typescript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL in a remote-friendly environment, leveraging AWS,

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of software development experience on server-side applications, API servers, and data processing.
• Experience at a high-growth startup is a plus.
• Expertise in a compiled language such as Go, Java or Kotlin is required.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and database design, SQL tuning, and monitoring.
• Solid understanding of scalable APIs, design patterns, and testing best practices.
• Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Focus on back-end architecture; design, develop and maintain SmithRx product features using languages like Go, JavaScript/Typescript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL with full CI/CD.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to produce high-quality, scalable software and services.
• Provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds with technical design documentation.
• Continually apply software development best practices, patterns, testing, automation, tools and technologies.
• Leverage AWS technologies (Lambda, Fargate) for various jobs and batch processing.
• Troubleshoot production issues with triage, impact assessment, mitigation planning, and root cause analysis.
• Coach/mentor junior engineers through reviews and feedback on code and designs.
• Work with senior leadership to translate technical vision into quarterly roadmaps.
• Foster a collaborative learning culture through mentorship and exploring new technologies.
