Job summary

SmithRx is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the company’s backend data and services. You will own server-side architecture across multiple languages and leverage AWS tools to ensure scalability and performance.

You will collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to translate complex requirements into modular, maintainable code and drive the adoption of best practices, testing, and automation.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4 years of equivalent professional experience.
• 5-8 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with high-growth startups or midsize tech companies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain SmithRx product features and services.
• Champion software design best practices, coding standards, and scalable systems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, tech leads, frontend engineers, and PMs to define features.
• Provide technical design documentation and estimates for system builds.
• Triage production issues, analyze root causes, and implement mitigations.
• Contribute to a quarterly tech roadmap with leadership.
• Mentor teammates, perform code reviews, and explore new AI/tools.
