Job summary

SmithRx, a rapidly growing Health-Tech company, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the backend architecture across our product suite. You will design, implement and maintain API-driven services using Go/Java/Kotlin, GraphQL, and SQL, while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.

In this remote role, you will mentor juniors, contribute to design reviews, and help shape the quarterly technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience.
• 5-8 years of software development experience working on server-side applications, API servers, data processing.
• Expertise in Go, Java or Kotlin.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and database design.
• Experience designing scalable APIs; knowledge of design patterns and testing best practices.
• Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend features with Go/JavaScript/Typescript/Node/GraphQL/SQL.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable software and services.
• Provide technical design documentation and effort estimates for systems and features.
• Apply software development best practices, patterns, testing, and automation.
• Leverage AWS (Lambda, Fargate) for batch processing; troubleshoot production issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews.
• Help turn technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
