Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Fraud Decisioning team, building tools and systems to empower fraud-fighting capabilities across the user journey. You will collaborate with product, ML, analytics and business teams to drive data-driven decisions and protect buyers, merchants, and Affirm.

You will plan large initiatives, write clean code, review peers, mentor engineers, and shape hiring. This is a remote-first role with flexible in-person onboarding and collaboration across US

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of software engineering with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting and maintaining complex systems.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
• Ability to work with Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute cross-functional initiatives from definition to maintenance.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and design for simplicity.
• Review others’ work to uphold quality standards across teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers to help them grow and take ownership.
• Incorporate stakeholder needs and advocate for ideas across the organization.
