Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Fraud Decisioning team to lead large, cross-functional initiatives that advance fraud prevention capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, design robust systems, and drive data-driven decisions to protect users and merchants while supporting growth. This remote-first role emphasizes collaboration with Product, ML, Analytics, and Business teams.

Qualifications

• 6-10+ years of experience as a software engineer with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting, building, launching, coding and maintaining complex systems.
• Passion for working with cross-functional teams including Product, ML, Analytics and Business teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute large, cross-functional initiatives—from definition to delivery and maintenance.
• Write clean, well-structured code and plan for edge cases and debug easily.
• Provide constructive feedback to maintain high-quality standards across teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers to help them grow and take ownership.
• Incorporate needs from stakeholders and build a shared understanding across voices.
• Evaluate technical and soft skills to inform hiring decisions and define interview requirements.
