Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the FCM team to own the design, architecture, and delivery of a regulated derivatives platform. You will lead a major replatforming effort, ensure auditable, reliable systems, and work with product, risk, and ops to translate strategy into a concrete roadmap.

You will mentor engineers while hands-on coding and shaping the technical standards across the FCM lifecycle, including market data, routing, settlement, and reporting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering in production systems.
• Direct FCM or derivatives experience with parts of the lifecycle.
• Proficiency in a modern backend language (Go preferred; Java or similar).
• Experience in regulated financial environments with auditability.

Responsibilities

• Own design and architecture across the FCM core, from data to risk.
• Drive next-gen replatforming and reduce legacy dependencies.
• Set the technical bar through code reviews and standards.
• Partner with pods and cross-functional teams to deliver auditable systems.
• Mentor engineers to raise code quality and architectural rigor.
