Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the FCM team to own design across the end-to-end lifecycle—from market data to settlement and risk. You will lead a major replatforming, reduce legacy vendor dependencies, and set the technical bar while mentoring engineers across pods.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering with distributed systems.
• Direct FCM or derivatives experience on futures lifecycle.
• Proficient in Go (preferred) or Java and event-driven architectures.
• Experience in regulated financial environments with auditability.
• Ability to lead end-to-end with architecture and hands-on coding.

Responsibilities

• Own design across the FCM core from market data to risk and reports.
• Drive the next-gen replatforming and reduce legacy dependencies.
• Set the technical bar via reviews and standards; address critical debt.
• Collaborate across pods and cross-functionally to deliver auditable systems.
• Mentor engineers and raise code quality across the team.
