Job summary

Kidde Global Solutions, a global leader in fire and life safety, seeks a Business Development Specialist - Specification Sales to secure specification-driven opportunities in the Southeast US. Remote work within the region is supported, with heavy travel to engage engineers, consultants, designers, GCs, and ECs.

You will promote Kidde Commercial fire alarm products, influence project specifications, and deliver technical guidance during design phases.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Full understanding of IBC, NEC, NFPA, and general fire alarm codes.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering workflows and overall construction processes.
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable with field-based work.
• 5+ years of sales experience in the fire alarm, low-voltage, or life-safety systems industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with engineering and construction partners (build trust with electrical engineering firms, fire protection consultants, design teams, GCs, and ECs) through regular visits, presentations, and technical support.
• Target non-specified projects with GCs and ECs by engaging on projects that may not include formal engineering specifications.
• Promote Kidde Commercial fire alarm products and technologies with compelling demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, and code-driven discussions.
• Influence project specifications by working with engineers and specifiers to include Kidde Commercial systems in written specifications for new construction and retrofit projects.
• Provide technical guidance during design phases and support engineering, GCs, and EC teams with system layout and product selection; act as a strategic connector between engineering firms, ECs, and GCs.
• Identify upcoming projects early in the design cycle by tracking engineering activity and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal sales and distribution teams to ensure a seamless handoff to quoting, bidding, and fulfillment.
• Represent Kidde Commercial at industry events to expand brand visibility and strengthen relationships.
