Job summary

Kidde Global Solutions is a global technology leader in fire and life safety solutions, serving complex commercial facilities worldwide. The Business Development Specialist - Specification Sales will build consultative relationships with engineers, consultants, design teams, and contractors to ensure Kidde Commercial systems are specified and preferred on projects.

The role combines technical insight with strategic outreach and requires significant travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of sales experience in fire alarm, low-voltage, or life-safety systems.
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Full understanding of IBC, NEC, NFPA, and general fire alarm codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with engineering and construction partners.
• Build trust with engineering firms, fire protection consultants, design teams, GCs, and ECs through visits and technical support.
• Target non-specified projects with GCs and ECs; influence product preference.
• Promote Kidde Commercial fire alarm products and technologies; deliver demonstrations and code-driven discussions.
• Influence project specifications; ensure Kidde Commercial systems are in written specs.
• Provide technical guidance during design phases and assist with system layout and code compliance.
• Track upcoming projects; maintain a strong pipeline of specification-driven opportunities.
• Coordinate with sales and distribution teams for handoffs to quoting and fulfillment.
• Represent Kidde Commercial at industry events to expand visibility and relationships.
• Travel up to 75% within assigned region.
