Job summary

New Story Schools in Shippensburg, PA seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students ages 5–21 with autism and related needs. You’ll assist with academics, behavior, and daily living tasks under teacher guidance, applying IEPs and PBSPs while collecting progress data.

Ideal candidates have a High school diploma, 3+ months of disability support experience, strong communication and calm, cooperative teamwork in a busy classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities.
• Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals
• Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance
• Assist students with transitions, activities, and personal care as needed
• Collect and record behavioral and progress data
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
