Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to design solar PV systems, including plant layout, hardware selection, and optimization. The role involves coordinating with project leads and senior engineers, supervising interns, and ensuring firm standards.

The position emphasizes electrical design of commercial and utility-scale solar, with responsibilities spanning calculations, construction documents, client coordination, and QA/QC across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or renewable engineering.
• Strong knowledge of NEC/NESC and power systems.
• 3–7 years’ experience in electrical design for distribution/generation.
• Ability to read and create construction drawings and specs.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and standard Office tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering portions of solar projects including design and documents.
• Coordinate change orders with project manager and verify scope coverage.
• Ensure schedules for electrical deliverables are met.
• Collaborate with civil, geotechnical, structural teams and surveyors.
• Perform electrical calculations including short circuit and load flow.
• Mentor interns/young engineers and review work for QA/QC.
