Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to drive the electrical design of solar PV projects, including plant layout, hardware selection, and interconnections. You will lead a team of designers, coordinate with other disciplines, and ensure designs meet standards while supervising HR tasks for time, expenses and PTO.

The role requires strong NEC/NESC knowledge, software modeling skills, and experience with proposal development, budgets, and client communication.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Engineering required.
Knowledge of NEC and NESC essential.
Ability to read and create construction drawings and specifications.
4–10 years of experience in electrical design for distribution/generation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication; professional appearance.
Experience with proposals, budgets, invoices, change orders, and reporting.
Ability to work collaboratively and mentor junior staff.
Limited AutoCAD usage acceptable.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical design for commercial and utility-scale solar projects within budgets and schedules.
Define scope, integrate change orders with project managers.
Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, structural, and survey teams.
Prepare construction documents and serve as primary client electrical contact.
Oversee project electrical team and perform calculations (short circuit, load flow, voltage drop).
Coordinate with clients, utilities, and inspectors; QA/QC of design work.
Support marketing efforts and develop technical proposals.
