Job summary

Siemens in Rolling Meadows, IL is offering a Smart Building Internship Program for the Smart Building Systems Specialist Intern role. You will spend most of your time on job sites with experienced technicians learning how we install, program, and service advanced HVAC automation and building systems.

You’ll also gain classroom instruction and on‑the‑job training. The internship is 10 weeks long with May–July or June–August starts, requiring enrollment in or recent completion of a 2‑year

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Available for 40 hours per week for a 10-week program (May–July or June–August).
• Onsite work at Rolling Meadows, IL; no relocation or housing stipend.
• Comfortable in dynamic environments (rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces).
• Hands-on role using hand tools, laptops, tablets, and other tech.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; quick to learn new automation software.

Responsibilities

• 80% Field Technician Experience: learn install, program, and service HVAC automation on job sites.
• 10% Sales Exposure: observe how Siemens engages customers and designs building solutions.
• 10% Project & Service Operations: rotate with service and project delivery teams.
• Visit customer sites with technicians; troubleshoot building systems and assist with commissioning.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Document service activities and communicate with customers and team members.
