Potbelly is hiring a Shift Leader to guide a fast-paced restaurant team, ensuring top-quality sandwiches and customer service. The role emphasizes leading shifts, managing associates, and controlling costs for each shift.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant/retail environment preferred.
• Pass a Food Safety Certification.
• Friendly, customer-first mindset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable in a bustling kitchen (knife skills a plus).
• Ability to manage allergens including peanut products, eggs, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.
• Able to stand/walk 8-9 hours or as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts, including efficient task assignment and feedback.
• Ensure security procedures are followed.
• Maintain back-of-house procedural standards.
• Count drawers and follow cash handling procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream) efficiently.
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register and balance cash handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints and issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
