Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Wisconsin is seeking a capable assistant in the department to back up the department manager in their absence and to master SOPs across merchandising, scheduling, and customer service. You will contribute to profit and people development while upholding our core values of respect, integrity, and safety.

You will welcome customers, assist with service levels, and ensure proper staffing. The role requires physical endurance and the ability to adapt across shifts and locations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in retail.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Friendly, approachable team player.
• Good judgement and decision making.
• Solid math skills for discounts and percentages.
• Ability to read/interpret training materials.
• Clear spoken and written communication.
• Ability to speak to groups of customers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
• Welcome, serve and assist customers to provide excellent customer service.
• Ensure proper staffing to address service levels and efficient utilization of labor.
• Operate equipment according to company guidelines.
• Communicate with customers and respond to questions promptly.
• Ensure opening/closing procedures are followed according to SOPs.
• Assure storage and date SOP adherence for all products.
• Follow merchandising guidelines, including displays and signage.
• Monitor temperature and placement of products in coolers/freezers to maintain freshness.
• Oversee product portion control to ensure SOPs are met.
• Ensure all receiving procedures are adhered to in the absence of the department manager.
• Proof, bake, glaze, top, and thaw product per SOPs.
• Stocking duties and refilling of product.
• Follow all company and department policies and SOPs.
• Comply with health, sanitation and safety regulations and report hazards.
