Potbelly Sandwich Shop is seeking a friendly, outgoing Shift Leader for our fast-paced environment. You will lead a shift, coach associates on product quality, customer service, and cost control, and drive sales. You must meet food safety requirements and be able to manage a busy kitchen while ensuring excellent service.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
• Must meet all Food Safety requirements and obtain Food Safety Certification.
• Strong customer-first mindset and excellent communication.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic kitchen environment.
• Enjoy problem-solving and teamwork.
• Knife skills welcome; able to work in bustling kitchen.
• Able to stand/walk 8–9 hours; lift up to 50 pounds.
• Illinois applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts, delegating tasks and providing feedback.
• Ensure security procedures are followed.
• Maintain back-of-house standards.
• Count drawers and handle daily cash procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products efficiently.
• Adhere to health and safety standards in food handling.
• Restock line items and coolers.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, and utensils; manage trash.
• Operate cash register and balance cash.
• Handle customer complaints effectively.
• Other duties as assigned.
