Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Shop is seeking a Shift Leader in a fast-paced, friendly environment. You will lead a shift, manage associates, ensure product quality and customer service, and control costs while growing sales.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of supervisory restaurant/retail experience, pass Food Safety certification, and enjoy problem-solving in a bustling kitchen. Strong communication and flexibility are required.

Qualifications

• You are at least 18 years of age.
• A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment preferred.
• You must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• A friendly, customer-first mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You enjoy problem-solving.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment; knife skills are a plus.
• You can manage potential allergens and stand/walk for 8-9 hours; lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts, including efficient assignment of tasks while providing feedback.
• Ensure all security procedures are followed.
• Ensure back-of-the-house procedural standards are met.
• Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream, etc.).
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness and safety.
• Restock food line, chips and cooler.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register: handle, balance and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Effectively handle customer complaints/issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
