Job summary

The Salvation Army St. Cloud Corps is seeking a Housing Advocate to provide direct support to shelter participants in a compassionate, person-centered manner.

You will help maintain a safe, welcoming environment and assist with shelter operations, documentation, and referrals to community resources. This 24-hour-per-week, on-site role requires strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and the ability to respond to crises with sound judgment while upholding confidentiality and professional

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, behavioral health concerns, or other vulnerable populations preferred.
• Experience in shelter services, human services, customer service, residential programs, or a related setting preferred.
• Must pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Participant Support and Engagement: Build positive relationships with shelter participants by providing compassionate, person-centered support and promoting accountability within a respectful community.
• Shelter Operations, Safety, and Participant Services: Monitor daily shelter activities, enforce policies, respond to emergencies, assist with building access and meal service, and keep common areas clean and orderly.
• Documentation and Administrative Support: Complete required documentation and perform routine administrative tasks to support shelter operations and recordkeeping.
• Resource Information and Referrals: Provide shelter information and connect participants with appropriate staff or community agencies.
