Job summary

The Salvation Army St. Cloud Corps is seeking a Housing Advocate to provide direct support to shelter participants, maintain a safe, respectful environment, and assist with meal service and documentation.

This part-time role offers 24 hours per week at a rate of $14.79–$17.50 per hour, with shifts including evenings, weekends, and overnights, and requires high school diploma plus compassionate, customer-service oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience with homelessness or vulnerable populations preferred.
• Experience in shelter services or human services or customer service preferred.
• Must pass background checks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with shelter participants by providing compassionate, person-centered support.
• Monitor daily shelter activities to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment and enforce policies.
• Complete required documentation including participant interactions, incidents, shift notes, visitor logs, and program records.
• Provide information regarding shelter services and community resources to participants and callers.
