Job summary

Speechify is seeking a lead Windows desktop engineer to design, architect, and ship native applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and potentially C++. You will drive best practices, accessibility, and cross-team collaboration for a reliable, high-performance product.

You’ll work closely with designers, QA, and product to plan features, ensure maintainable architecture, and lead features end-to-end from conception to release and ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar) and C#, XAML.
• Deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building accessible software.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and possibly C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and inclusive usability.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap for Windows platform.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems.
