Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of native Windows desktop applications. You will work with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and possibly C++ to build high‑quality, accessible software used by millions of readers.

You will drive architecture, performance, and maintainability while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product designers, QA, and researchers to shape the Windows platform roadmap.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development with Windows App SDK/WinUI and C#, XAML; some native C++ experience is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and commitment to accessible software.
• Excellent fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading.
• Experience leading design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture-level decisions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and ability to drive product decisions across teams.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate UI Automation, ensure focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems.
