Job summary

Speechify seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and build native Windows desktop applications. You will lead architecture decisions, collaborate with design, UX, and QA, and ensure high performance, accessibility, and reliability across Windows 10/11+. The role emphasizes mentorship, code reviews, and long-term architectural direction.

The position is based in State College, PA, with a focus on delivering a polished user experience for millions of readers using Speechify across platforms.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Windows desktop app development with Windows App SDK/WinUI, C#, XAML, and native interop.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production desktop apps with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs and inclusive software.
• Solid fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications.
• Define best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts and ensure keyboard navigation, screen readers and periency support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders on feature planning.
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and memory issues; propose robust solutions.
