Job summary

Speechify is seeking a seasoned Windows desktop architect/developer to lead design and implementation of native Windows applications. You will drive architecture, accessibility, and performance across the Windows platform, collaborating with product, UX, and QA to shape the roadmap.

You will own feature lifecycles from conception through release, mentoring engineers and ensuring high-quality, accessible software for millions of users across Windows environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, with some C++ experience.
• Strong understanding of Windows app architecture and interop between .NET and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production-quality desktop apps with reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and building inclusive software.
• Excellent fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multicore/threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
• User-centric mindset focused on polished, accessible experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed.
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation and accessibility for keyboard navigation, screen readers, and focus management.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape UI/UX and long-term roadmap.
• Take ownership of feature lifecycles from conception to maintenance and releases.
• Diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and compatibility issues.
