Job summary

Speechify in Boise, ID is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and optional C++.

You'll define architecture, ensure performance and accessibility, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and UX teams to shape the Windows platform roadmap. The role combines hands-on coding with technical leadership in a distributed, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• The candidate has 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK/WinUI, C#, XAML, and ideally C++.
• Deep understanding of interop between .NET managed code and native code.
• Proven track record designing, building, and shipping production-ready desktop apps with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and inclusive software practices.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, and multi-threading.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK and related UI frameworks.
• Define and enforce best practices for code architecture, performance, memory usage, and cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: UI Automation, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, and memory issues; propose architectural improvements.
