Job summary

United Future in Parsippany/Sparta, NJ seeks a Water Resources Design Engineer to anchor the technical bench in water and wastewater design. Hybrid role with real flexibility and a compensation base of $120k–$150k, plus discretionary year-end bonus.

5–10 years of hands-on experience and a PE or near-term licensure are expected. You will design facilities to relevant standards, perform regulatory coordination and mentor junior staff while collaborating with PMs and cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 5-10 years of hands-on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license or progress toward within 6–12 months.
• Strong knowledge of NJDEP regulations and EPA/SDWA standards.
• AutoCAD and technical writing to produce reports and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineering of water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations and distribution systems.
• Feasibility and planning studies including hydraulic and environmental evaluations.
• Prepare technical documentation: calculations, specs, cost estimates, contract documents.
• Coordinate regulatory permitting (NJPDES, TWAs) and compliance.
• Conduct site investigations and inspections to support design and construction.
• Collaborate with structural, civil and MEP teams and with vendors/subcontractors.
• Mentor junior staff on technical work, regulatory knowledge and design procedures.
