Job summary

Horan Hiring Solutions, LLC represents a privately held northern New Jersey engineering firm seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) to anchor the technical bench. Location options include Parsippany or Sparta with a hybrid, flexible arrangement.

Compensation ranges from $120,000 to $150,000 base, plus a discretionary year-end bonus. Ideal candidates have 5–10 years of water/wastewater design experience and a PE license or near-term plan to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
• 5-10 years of hands on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license or within 6–12 months of obtaining it.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and federal standards: EPA, CWA, SDWA.
• Experience with funding applications and with municipal and utility clients is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems.
• Conduct feasibility and planning studies including hydraulic and environmental evaluations.
• Prepare technical documentation: calculations, reports, specs, cost estimates and contract documents.
• Coordinate regulatory permitting: NJPDES, Treatment Works Approvals and related authorities.
• Conduct site investigations and collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering groups and vendors.
• Mentor junior staff and share regulatory knowledge and design procedures.
