Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Water Business Line in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on design of new structures and structural forensic work for water treatment and industrial facilities.

You will perform structural analyses, prepare detailed field sketches, and support multiple projects with guidance from senior engineers. Occasional travel up to 30% is required as part of project delivery.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Structural Engineering with 4+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and motor vehicle records check.
• Illinois SE license and/or PE in a reciprocating state.
• US citizenship or green card is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform portions of a broader assignment under guidance of experienced engineers.
• Gather and correlate basic engineering data using field notes, sketches, and photos.
• Work on structural engineering tasks using hand calculations and modeling tools.
• Prepare field sketches from site reviews and perform occasional travel.
• Contribute to proposals, reports, and cost estimates; mentor junior engineers.
• Manage tasks within budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
