Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join the Structural group supporting the Water Business Line in Chicago, IL. The role covers design of new structures and forensic work for water treatment plants, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Responsibilities include performing design tasks, data gathering, field sketches, and occasional travel. You will mentor junior engineers, ensure work aligns with budget and schedule, and communicate with clients through written and verbal

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Structural Engineering plus 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Illinois SE license and/or PE in reciprocating state
• U.S. Citizenship or green card required
• MS in Structural Engineering preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates engineering data using field notes, sketches, and photographs.
• Uses structural programs (RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, REVIT) for modeling and design.
• Mentions fieldwork to review building conditions and prepare detailed sketches.
• Guides and mentors entry-level engineers.
• Delivers work within budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
