Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Water group in Chicago, IL, supporting design of new structures and forensic work for water treatment facilities and other facilities.

You will perform technical assignments, gather site data, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team. The role requires strong communication, mentoring skills, and the ability to manage budgets and schedules with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Structural Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• IL SE license and/or PE in any reciprocating state.
• US Citizenship or green card required.
• Experience with current design codes (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE-07).

Responsibilities

• Performs portions of a broader assignment under supervision.
• Gathers data using field notes, sketches and photos.
• Works on detailed structural tasks with hand calculations and modeling.
• Produces field sketches and technical proposals as needed.
• Travel up to 30% to support projects.
• Mentors entry-level engineers.
• Supports client presentations and project schedules.
