Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead design teams on underground transmission projects and collaborate with construction, procurement, and permitting groups. You will interface with utility clients and multiple offices to deliver compliant solutions.

You will prepare packages, develop routing analyses, perform field checks, and produce visuals to communicate findings while mentoring junior staff and supporting business development across North America.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited Civil Eng degree with 3+ years of transmission engineering experience.
Alternative: Civil Eng Tech with FE passing and 3+ years experience.
Master's degree in Civil Eng with 2+ years experience.
Strong knowledge of standard civil/structural techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work analytically and with strong attention to detail.
EIT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead design teams of 2–10 engineers and designers and work with construction and permitting teams.
Develop new clients and maintain relationships with existing clients.
Support North American business development initiatives.
Prepare and develop HV/LV underground construction packages.
Develop routing analyses using CAD/GIS design tools.
Perform field inspections and calculations on electric facilities.
Produce reports and visualizations of technical results.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
