Job summary

Responsibilities include preparing equipment specifications, RFQs, and reports; performing conductor selection, grounding studies, and compliance with NERC/FERC standards; and updating CAD drawings while supporting field inspections and client presentations.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree with 3 years transmission experience; consulting preferred.
• FE exam with 3 years transmission engineering experience; consulting preferred.
• Master's in Civil Engineering with 2 years transmission experience; consulting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of standard civil/structural engineering techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Strong experience with CAD tools: AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS/PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCAD.
• Attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, organization, and problem solving.
• EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform transmission design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review transmission components to meet project needs.
• Prepare transmission equipment specifications, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
• Perform conductor selection studies, lightning performance and grounding calculations.
• Compile calculations for electrical clearances per NESC and other codes.
• Prepare communications of NERC/FERC/regional requirements.
• Apply transmission engineering concepts and procedures.
• Research project data, compile studies and reports, write specifications.
• Update CAD drawings to reflect corrections.
• Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawings, and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections and measurements for clients.
• Comply with policies and standards.
